Quilting

Isn't this a beauty? A friend of mine, working with interior decoration, have bought this one with the CompuQuilter unit. Yesterday I quiltet one of my quilts on it! It was so much fun!

This is a blue scrap quilt made several years ago. Now it's quilted and just need the binding.

This is Kikki, the proud owner........

...... and me the student :-) Kikki is teaching me to use the unit. I hope to rent time to quilt my own quilts that I can not manage in my normal sewing machine. Next lesson (read next quilt) is going to be in two weeks time. I have 4 more quilttops to be quilted + several in progress :-)

Have a nice day.

Pink October/ Oktober Rosa

Some weeks ago I signed up for a charity to raise money for breast cancer research. I don't know yet what to make for the auction on e-bay. A scrap quilt would be perfect now that I'm working on stach-redusing projects :-) But, can I make it in time for the auction?

Today I have been to my annual mammography. I suffer weeks in advance! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. I did not have to remove my breast, but had some good doses of radiation. My breast is totaly "cooked" and will probably never be normal again. My ribs are hurting and cracking just by a good sneeze. But Hey, I'm alive!

Treasures from Birmingham

Ok readers. Is this what you have waited for?

I tried to take photos of groups of the treasures I brought home, but it became too many photos :-) You can click on picture to get a bigger one for a closer look. All books and magazines is not in this picture. I had to much luggage for the aireplane. Lucky, a friend of mine was visiting the show by car from Norway. She kinly exceptet to bring a bag of books, magazines, shoes and cloths back to Norway. Otherwise, I would have spent a fortune on overweight fees.

My friend from Norway is returning in a week. I am so much looking forward to have a closer look at the books and magazines. I can not really remember what I have bought :-)

I prewash all my fabrics before use. I have not washed any yet. Have to touch and admire my treasures a bit before useing :-)

Have a nice week end.

Birmingham

Birmingham was fantastic! It was my first time at a Quiltshow in England. I'm going back next year, for sure.

This is my traveling companion Sissel. We stayed at the Hilton Metropole next to NEC.

First stop - shops! I had a good budget and my plan was: Shop till you drop :-) So many shops!

This is the sweet ladies at The Button Company. I think I have an assorted button collection to last me in to the next century :-).

Not only English shops at the show. This is Quilters Barn Australia. I think this was the only shop with stitchery patterns. Stitchery is very popular here in Norway.

This was an interesting shop called Worn and Washed Fabrics. The shop was filled with collections of reclaimed fabrics in ready-to-sew packs.

I spent 3 days shopping and enjoying all the different exhibitions. So many beautifull quilts, interesting quilts, strange art quilts, ugly quilts, "things" that I hardly could call quilts and young quilters work. Filled with impressions it feels like I need another week to go through my photos and catalogs.

Challange

I'm back from Birmingham. What a great show! I'll tell you more about that later.

First I want to thank you all for great stach reducing ideas. This time I found May Britt's idea the best one. Shareing stach with quilting friends and actually making quilts together is just what I need. Off cause, I could give part of my stach away. However, that was not what I was looking for....
So, May Britt you need to give me your choice of colour.

Challenge and Quilt Festival

Are you up for a challenge?

Give me your best stach reducing idea and you will be in a drawing for 10 fat eights, colours of your choice. The drawing will take place Monday August 20th at 18:00 my time..

I posted a simular request on July 28th. Only one person responded. 10 fat eights are in the mail :-) Congratulation to Astri!

I have butterflies in my stomach! To morrow morning I'm leaving for Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England. First time at Quilt Show in England. I'm so much looking forward to several days filled with quilts, shopping and friends.

See you Monday than :-) Nancy

Last weeks activities

I have enjoyed my new sewingroom very much. DH have put up 3 more shelfs. Boxes of various contents are moved from old sewingspace to new. Starting to look good.

We have had a lot of rain lately.... But the day I had invited my friend for a "wet" lunch at the front porch the wether turned out beautiful. No rain, some clouds and nice temperature. We had a long and nice lunch.

This is the first project that was started and finished in my new sewingroom. The Clothes-peg bag is made from at pattern in Quiltemagasinet no 3/07. The designer is AnnaKa.

I have finished 35 blocks of HST for a quilt. The blocks are not put together for a top. It might turn out to be a queen size quilt with borders. I have not decided yet.

Moveing my fabrics I realized that I have a lot...... I picked out some of the bright color motif fabrics for a crib quilt. I have cut 352 4" squares ready to be layed out and sewn together.

My scrap box was totaly packed so I could not get the lid on. I decided to cut from scraps for a quilt called Star Struck made by Bonnie. Visit her blog here and web page here. Lots of ideas for scrap quilts.

After all my efforts to use some scraps I have now two packed boxes. What happend? Did my scraps multiply????

Love from Nancy

Rockin' Girl Blogger

Hi to all of you nice people visiting my blog! This is fun :-)

I have been very busy in my new sewingroom. Offcause, that is the official reason for absence from blogging land. In the meantime I have been nominated for Rockin' Girl Blogger. Both Anne-Grethe and May Britt have nominated me. Thank you both for this exalted honour :-)

I would like to pass this honour back to May Britt who got me started. The honour is also passed on to Sølvi who lives in Trondheim and make beautifull quilts, Bonnie who gives me great inspiration for scrapquilts, Thimbleanna who have such beautifull silver thimles in her blog heading and Monika for her beautifull photos from her life at the farm.

Patterns for sale

After many years of giving classes my local quilt shop requested me to make quilt patterns for sale. These are two of my latest. For applique I have used cliparts bought from JDS with lisence to make quiltpatterns. Drawing is not my strong side, but I'm getting there :-) I am working on a crib quilt with my own drawings for applique. I have also made stitchery patterns. Unfortunately, my patterns are in Norwegian.......

My new sewingrom is proceeding nicely. Today I will start moving all my fabrics and stuff....
