At last, I completed the binding on my rose quilt. More then 9 meters of handstitching. . . Phu!

I just dived into my neetly folded fabrics and picked coffee beans and browns for the cute little motif squares I bought in Birmingham. I bought several strips of cute motif squares witch I'm going to work on tomorrow, or should I say today since it's past midnight.

Getting back on track

Phu, it took some days to recover from the great experience of Birmingham. I was full of inspiration but desided to finnish one project before starting a new one. So, I went for binding on my rosequilt. How stupid am I!! It took forever to hand stitch about 9 meter of binding to the back. However the Olympic Games is on there have been some highlights for a Norwegian soul this week.

Autumn is my favorit season. I love to walk in the woods. Love the colours and all those goodies hidden. Yesterday I went for a walk and came home with this catch. The summer have been quite dry but some rain last couple of weeks had done good. I have no idea what different types are called in English that's why I do Norwegian and latin names :-) May bee somebody can help me out?

Left side: Skjellstorpigg (Sarcodon Imbricatus). Right side: Kantarell (Cantharellus Cibarius).
Back basket: Steinsopp og rødskrubb (Boletus and Leccinum). Middle bowl: Piggsopp (Hydnum) and small bowl in front: Traktkantarell (Cantharellus Tubaeformis).

It is early in the season for the last type so they still are pritty small. I'll be back to pick more later in season. Next time I have to remember to bring my camera too.

It felt so good with a long walk in the woods, but I got really tired and totally out of breath. I was not accactly seeping around but my breathing is a problem.

DH was cooking while I was away. He made a delicious casseroll of chicken breast and bacon. He had some secret ingredients in the sauce, like white wine, red wine and cognac.... He is a master hunting and trying out new recipies.

Have a great Sunday. Come back and see what I'm working on in my sewingroom. SMILE

Festival of Quilts

Hi, I'm back. I have tried to blog all day, but could not upload my photos. I guess blogger have been buzy.

I had a wonderfull time in Birmingham. I met alot of nice quilters, visited a lot of nice shops and the exibition was wonderfull. I had a nice room in Express Holiday Inn, sharing with a nice friend, had nice dinners in Little Owl Pub next door.

Going to Birmingham I had 12 kilo suitecase (including a bag and a backpack). Returning I had 30 kilo pluss a backpack as handluggage with "some kilo of books". Oh dear, my creditcard was running hot! (Oh dear DH, please forgive me exceeding my budget!) I just had a wounderfull time.
So, what did I buy??
I bought some patterns.......
.... and some books, a calender and some plastic templet sheets. (They are wonderfull. Bought some last year too.)
Off cause I bought some fabric........ SMILE. I just love those packs with coordinating fabrics espesialy from Sunflower fabrics! (Right side with the band. )

These buttons appealed to my need for more colours so I just had to have some packs. Next time I have to buy yellow and orange. Don't you agree??

And some more buttons, hooks and magntic buttons.

As a quilter you need a viarety off rulers. I discovered some new Jelly rolle rulers that I just had to have. The Creative Dimond ruler I had on my shopping list.

Talking about tools...... You never know what you need to have to do a great work when having fun doing patchwork and quilting. I had some on my list, but most of the tools just "jumped" into my shoppingbag.
I have experimented with paintsticks after buying some last year. I just had to buy more colors this year. I also found a colorfull collection of silk embroidery threads. Sorry I did not pull the threads out of plastic bag before taking the photo.

After all this shopping I had exceeded my bugdet, my luggage capacity and my imagination of finding "new" advantures. Then I found this ribbon looking like tape mesurements in two colors. I allready have projects in mind. Same shop had some nice ric rac ribbons that had to go to Norway. SMILE.

Can you see why my suitecase was stuffed and lined with fabrics. SMILE

Today I have unpacked and washed some of my fabric treasues. I can't wait to start cutting and making new projets. My neigbour is very curious why my chlothline is full of pieces of fabric not recognizeble pieces of clothing. I know they think I pritty disturbed to start with due to my passion cutting nice fabrics into pieces and mending it together again. Who cares? I'm having fun!

Anyway, I love my passion - Patchwork, Quilting, Applique and Stitchery.

50th birthday - last post

I had such a great July this year. Just have to tell some more from my birthday.

On my wish list I had some filthy expencive jewelry hoping for mom, dad and my 6 brothers to go for a joined present. They did not, but I got this very originale and antique "designer" necklace from my mom. (My mom lives at a farm LOL)

I wore it all night. Just look at DH and I after having second round of coffee. The result was ofcause a lot of rust on my dress.

Talking about coffee and cake, I probably could had you all over for coffee and cake. SMILE

Anyway, in addition to a lot of nice gifts I got a lot of giftcertificates and some cheques and money. I simply went to the jewler and bought that filthy expencive necklace I had in mind. Pearls and dimond. I feel like a million dollar wearing it. (Okey, it was not that expencive).

It's very special because the front is the lock. The pearl hanging around the dimond can easely be removed. I have already in mind to get a gold chain for the lock.......

See you soon.
