Holiday thoughts

Days are getting back to normal. DS1 and DIL left yesterday with Rex. As you can see Gizmo sure enjoy some peace and quiet in his house.

The holidays have been a lot of fun, lot of visiting people, good foods and drinks. I got a bit tired myself yesterday. I ment to just relax on the couch with a good book. I ended up having a nap for several hours while DH was cooking. He is a darling, enjoying cooking so much.
I promised to show the contents of those silver packets on my moms advent calendar. DIL showed me a small photo prosessing software and I made this collage of all the dayly gifts.

I have not done any sewing since I finished last christmas presents. This is the bag I made for MIL for her to keep all her medicines and creams in.

I also made this quilt for my niece Linnea. She is 15 months old and a darling princess. This is the center detail.
Today I hope to finish block 10 of Nohas Ark BOM.
I have several small stitcheries ready to be stitched. Among them a lovely Christmas Heart from May Britt. You find it here.

Visiters

The best part of Christmas holidays is visiters. In our house even the cat Gizmo get visiters for the holidays. Rex is DS1s cat. As you can see, Rex is feeling right at home in our house. Resting with our knitted "nisse"-family on Gizmos quilt.

Cats also get presents for Christmas. This year I made to types of balls for both cats. The one with name on have a bag of Cat nip herbs inside. The other one have a ball with a bell inside.

When Gizmo play with his cat nip ball he rubb and hug the ball. Rex is getting all worked up and is trying to kill his ball. So much fun to watch.

Enjoy the holidays.

Advent - preparing for Christmas

2. weekend Advent gift from May Britt and Hanne.

Advent - preparing for Christmas

Life have been hectic lately. So many gifts to make, packets to send, cookies to make, cleaning to do. It was not my intention to leave you out from the Advent fun. My camera memorycard is blocked (for ever I think) so I had to buy a new one. I love sharing photos with you.
This is one lazy cat resting. For some reason he found my Advent tablerunner the best spot to lay down.

I've told about my mom and I exchanging Advent calender gifts. This is my Advent calender befor I started opening. Some of the gifts are soft and some are hard SMILE

Advent - preparing for Christmas

Remember the Advent gifts in previous post? Last weekend I opend first gift from May Britt and Hanne. From May Britt I got some beautiful lime green buttons. From Hanne a cute Tilda stitchery with thread.

My camera is acting up on me! I am no great photographer and my camera is Canon Ixux 500 TI. For no reason I know of the memory card will not delever photos to my laptop, nor show photos on the camera. The display say memory card is locked. What is going on?? Anybody who can give me a clue?

Lucky I had an old memory card laying around, but it's very limited. We had our Christmas meeting in our local quiltgroup on Wednesday. A lot of nice food, chat and , of cause, show and tell. I fiddled a lot to get my camera working so I just took a few photos.

This is a beautifull soft colourd quilt one of the ladies had made for her daughter. I guess as a Cristmas present.

This is a Christmas quilt made from red and green squares combined with redwork stitcheries. The quilt is a lot nicer in real life.
Not all had made big quilts, Thank goodness! Anne had made this Christmas postcard. Very nice. Look at the quilting detales.

New glasses

I normally wear contactlenses to correct my bad eyesight. Being past 50 it's not enough anymore. Yesterday I picked up my new reading/ working glasses that I have to use in addition to contactlenses. It's not easy to take a photo of my self!! How did this go??

Grrr, I look awefull!! New attempt.

Is this my best side??

Or this?? As you can see, not at my best. But my glasses looks nice and work as they should!
Today I received my custom made tags. I love them. Now I'm looking forward to work on gifts and things for Christmas. May be some patterns too.

Take care.

Heart Tutorial

Do you need to make a last minut gift?

1. Make heart plastic templet.

2. Pic nice fabric for hearts. Put fabric right side together.

3. Lay plastic templet on wrong side of fabric and draw around templet.

4. Put cotton batting underneath the two layers of fabric.

5. Go to your sewingmachine. Put stitchlenght to 2 (small stitches). Sew in drawingline. Leave one inch opening for turning right side out.

6. Other side of the work (side with batting) looks like this.

7. Trim away batting close to stitchingline.

8. Put batting on drawingside (to get batting on both sides).

9. Lay new batting down (stitched batting up to see where to sew). Stitch on top of first seam.

10. Don't forget the 0ne inch opening.

11. Trim away all batting close to stitching line.

12. Trim fabric to 1/4 inch seamallowens. Leave extra fabric around opening for turning.

13. Make 3 cuts in seam where the heart goes into a Vally point.

14. Turn heart right side out with your favorit tool. Mine is a wooden chop stick.

15. Forgot to buy batting to fill heart? Use leftovers batting cuts.

16. Put batting on your cuttingmat. Run your rotary cutter back and forth lenghtwise and crosswise to make small pieces.

17. Too bulky? Press batting down with a ruler. Watch your fingers!!

18. Use your favorite tool to stuff heart. Add ribbon and bow if desired.

To make nice Cristmas aromatic heart. Mix hole cloves, canel, dried ginger and dried orangepeel. Crush slightly and put in the middle of heart.

Have fun!

Christmas Peace and Joy

The house is clean, three decorated and refrigerator filled with food and drinks. I'm ready!
I have compleeted my 12 tasks on my list, in time to keep my promise to my self and my family. All was done by friday. I just had to do kitchen floor on saturday. Sunday we had visiors for coffee and exchanged Christmas presents. DH is cooking tonight. I have allready made dessert. I can just relax and enjoy the Christmas spirit. We have now snow. It's raining today. Earlier this week we had frost. The landscape looked beautifull with ice crystals on all threes. Unfortunatly I forgot to take photos.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Christmas spirit

Today I had coffee for some friends at my house. Last week I made triangulare coffee placemats. I found them very handy. Can be used for placemat for flowers and in the bread basket.

As you can see, Christmas spirit is entering my house, little by little.

Every night I have been working in front of TV. I have stuffed a lot of Christmas hearts I'm giving away as presents. As you can see I have made a lot and some is going to be hanged in living room window tomorrow. Need to put ribbon on first.

DH have written a nice Christmas letter for family and friends. This evenings task is to put all of them in envelopes and put stamps on. Not bad. One more thing wiped out of my list.
