Focus this week

I am working on same projects as last week.

Lappemor was my guardian Angel past week and came up with the brown fabric I needed to complete the tabel runner in my previous week post. Hmmm, same fabrics and design would look great as a curtain for my kitchen window…….. Now I have fabric enough to make it :-)

Fabric needed

My BOM pattern project is a lot of work. Not the actual making of the quilt, but the double checking of pattern and text before publishing. I am trying to make this in to a 10 part project including a good fabric & cutting plan for the shops that wants to sell my BOM. The thing is that I have been working on this project for so long that the fabrics are not ”new” any more. What kind of experience do you BOM designers and BOM buyers have? Do you like the pattern and make your own fabric choices or is it those exact fabrics that make the project? I would love some advice from YOU!

BOM

The Olympic Games are on and as a true winter sport nation the inhabitants in our house follow it all on TV. It’s a kind of good/ bad situation. DH took a fall on ice a couple of weeks ago. The result was two fractured ribs in his back. He had just recovered from the staircase fall in June with three rib fractures. OK not same side but still... He spends nights and days in”the good chair” in front of TV. I really don’t know if it’s all due to back pain and problem to lay down and get up of bed, or the convenience of being able to watch the Winter Olympics. I know he is hurting. I have suffered from rib fractures my self so I know the drill: You better not laugh, sneeze or do quick moves.

Ï had great hopes for this challenge about weekly focus. Now I have to admit I am such a sucker at it! I have to admit that I kind of ”took a step aside” on Sunday, again.

A pattern for a wool fleece dress caught my attention at my local store. I bought the pattern and wool fleece to go with it. Saturday I cut out the peaces for the dress and got some leftovers. I know I have a heart for scrap quilts, but now I wonder if it is the leftover bug that triggers me. Anyway, I had this nice wool fleece leftovers and they had to be put to good use. I collect Teddy Bears but have yet to make one my self, until Sunday. I browsed Google and found a pattern for a Teddy Bear and off I went. I enjoyed making my first Teddy Bear so much that I have to do it again. Sunday was Valentines Day as well as Mothers Day here in Norway. DH surprised me with lovely chocolates. My cute Teddy Bear has not been named yet, but he looks right on in my collectors’ corner.

Valentinehearts and Teddy

Valentino is just the right name!!

Update on projects

Time to update my list of finished projects in September. The update list is on my sidebar.

This Pillow is from my jeans cutting earlier this summer. Front part was compleated in July, but for unknown reason the back part have been missing. I put it together last week.

Makeing projects for my Stitchers Angel is so much fun. This is a book cover I made for xxxxx. Hi hi. I'm not going to tell who she is. Hi hi. She might read this post ;-)

Cleaning out my attic some months ago I found some cross stitch work I made many many years ago. This one had a misshap in the cleaning prossess. I do plan to make it work in a project. I will get back to that project in October.

Back to my sewingmachine! I have work to complete before Ocotober 1. Sneek peek will be postet during the week end.

See you.

Phu, I made it!!

Yesterday I kind of snapped out of vacation mode and realized that I had not finished a single project for July in the one project a month challange. But have I started many new once :-)

I hurried to my sewing room and dived in my Orphan box. I found this stitchery angel block.

Orphan block

I decided to make a note book cover. It’s a quick and easy project :-)

bookcover

I made it just in time !!

This week I have done one big rearranging job!! No, not in my sewing room, but in my collection of DMC embroidery threads. I kept them all in plastic bags in a total mess. If you wonder how I managed to find the colour I needed, I didn’t! I think this will work a lot better. All the different threads winde up on paper spools and displayed in a box. Looks very tidy, don't you think.? :-)

Have a wonderful weekend.

WISP's and UFO's

I have made a habbit of having at least one stitchery ready to be stitched. This quilters Watch is from a Spanish blog. You find it here.

You know I love cats. This is a photo of Easter visiting Rex having a nap om my everlasting Grandma's Flowergarden quilt. No, it's not finnished yet :-/

Well, I started playing with some orphan blocks from the OC scrapquilt project. Since Rex is such a wild thing, I came up with this mix of fabrics. Gizmo have tested and approved this little quilt. Hope Rex find it relaxing with some smell of Gizmo. Hi hi.

I have two more projects going on that I hope to finnish before May 1.
Stay healty!!

Grandma's Flowergarden

I started this quilt, I guess almost 10 years ago. A true scrap quilt as you can see.

Through the years of work I probably have done something wrong or not had the right plan. Just look at the quilt, it all crooked!!

I was really frustareted when I tried to figure out how to finnish and put on border. It did not match up or look like some of the hexagon quilts I have seen. I wanted the egde to be like shown at det lower picture. (sorry but this is a test with loose blocks/ pieces).

I have some serious corrections to do.
The quilt was intended to be a lapquilt is now probably ending up as a queen size bed quilt.
A friend of mine have done som hexagons and having trouble finnishing off. She simply cut her finnished hexagon quilt into pillows sizes and made several pillow covers. Now she have given me her leftover hexagons. She did not care to work with them any more. The hexagons sure come in handy in my struggle to finnish this quilt.

To get my hexagons in a stright line is my gould for this week. It is not that easy having a visiting cat in the house, eager to play. The quilt blocks are layed out on my livingroom floor.
I have had such luck in winning give-aways lately. I have bought a Scandinavian lottery ticket for tonight. Keep your fingers crossed!! I am in such a winning mood :-)

New Table cloth

I am very happy to show you my new table cloth. My first finished project in March. The quilting caused me a lot of trouble. I desided to do free motion flower petals in the flower. The thread I picked was a shiny varigated blue thread and it looked lovely. But boy did I have a hard time quilting with it. The thread was breaking all the time. I became so frusterated. After finishing the flowers middle, I got fed up and changed to another blue plain thread.

This is a detail of the flowers and quilting.

My plan for work in progress i not always the best. I tend to jump from project to project. Even starting new once inbetween. From one of my UFO boxes I have picked out a ten year old project. Jepp, I have been working on it on end off for ten years, I'm sure. It's a Hexagon scrap quilt.
Have a great day

What's going on

I have been quiet for several weeks now. Have your noticed? Well, I did not do it intentionaly. Sometimes life just get in the way. First of all I went to my mom's for 10 days to make some more rugs. This time for myself. I find it very satisfactionary to do this kind of craft. I have used old sheets and bedlinnen for the rugs.

DH came lasst week end to pick me up. On saturday he got a call from his sister about their 91 year old mom. She had a massive stroke. DH left to be with her on monday after. This is 2 - 3 weeks ago and she is still in the hospital. She is not doing well. This is stressfull times so I did not feel up to new creative steps. Instead I picked out some WISPS from my knitting baskets.

This is what I have found. One pair of fingerless mittens made in natural homespun wool yarn. The only thing missing was the croched egde on both. Now they are ready to use.

Some time ago I fell in love with a scarf on Sigrun's blog. Sigrun gave me the instructions and I made this soft and warm Baktus scarf. I had about 10 cm left to do.

I knitted socks for myself last year. I had some yarn left and made matching fingerless mittens and a simular scarf as the Baktus scarf.

Another friend gave me a pattern for thise cuties. Fun to make and fun to wear. Do you wonder what it is?

Slippers!

To morrow it's my turn to go up north to be with DIL. I'll be away for 5 days. I'll bring a lot of stitchery and some knitting.

Sewing report

This is as far as I got on my 3 WISP for the challange. I ran out of fabric for borders. I have ordered fabrics and just have to wait paciantly for it to arrive. So, this quilt is back in the WISP box.

In stead I have worked on this pink Jelly Roll quilt. I found it a bit short by using only the Jelly Roll so I added a white border on top and bottom before adding a pink border. On the white border I added some applique. The top is finished. It in a bag ready to go to the Long Arm quilter. I could not go today due to heavy snow.

Today I've been working on two other projects. No photos yet.

I have already startet working on my next WISP. This is my next project.

Have a nice week end.

My finished projects 2009 Challange

May Britt did it again!! She got me to sign up for a new challange! She and Kris have put their head together for this callange. OK, I was not that hard to convince SMILE. I have an unknown number of WISP's in bags and boxes. A kick in the butt is just what I need.
I'll start right away. My first project will be a new one. I have some flanell samples (small pieces) and I'm going to make a top for a charity - For children with cancer or long term disease ( Tepper som varmer).
In our Scandinavian Yahoo-list there is a 5 before 5 challange, so I just as well signe up for thatone too.
