Update on projects

Time to update my list of finished projects in September. The update list is on my sidebar.

This Pillow is from my jeans cutting earlier this summer. Front part was compleated in July, but for unknown reason the back part have been missing. I put it together last week.

Makeing projects for my Stitchers Angel is so much fun. This is a book cover I made for xxxxx. Hi hi. I'm not going to tell who she is. Hi hi. She might read this post ;-)

Cleaning out my attic some months ago I found some cross stitch work I made many many years ago. This one had a misshap in the cleaning prossess. I do plan to make it work in a project. I will get back to that project in October.

Back to my sewingmachine! I have work to complete before Ocotober 1. Sneek peek will be postet during the week end.

See you.

Dollquilts

I don't have a grandaughter yet, but my mind got set on making dollquilts. Probably as a result of making quilts for visiting cats. SMILE

The red heart quilt is true WISP. Four of the hearts was made in early 1990ies. Before 1994 for sure. I remember having those hearts in my sewing movingbox!

The blue dollquilt is made form 2" scrap strips. I love the brick pattern. It's so easy and can be made from any size strips. I know there is a holly mistake! I had a senior moment and mixed two of the strips. Shit happens, and this is a dollquilt. I don't think the doll will notics ;-)

In Norway early May farmers spred shit (organic fertilizer) on their properies. Living in a small town surrounded by farmers spring is an organic event :-)
My spring motto have to be: You have to accept some, to enjoy more.

WISP's and UFO's

I have made a habbit of having at least one stitchery ready to be stitched. This quilters Watch is from a Spanish blog. You find it here.

You know I love cats. This is a photo of Easter visiting Rex having a nap om my everlasting Grandma's Flowergarden quilt. No, it's not finnished yet :-/

Well, I started playing with some orphan blocks from the OC scrapquilt project. Since Rex is such a wild thing, I came up with this mix of fabrics. Gizmo have tested and approved this little quilt. Hope Rex find it relaxing with some smell of Gizmo. Hi hi.

I have two more projects going on that I hope to finnish before May 1.
Stay healty!!

Grandma's Flowergarden

I started this quilt, I guess almost 10 years ago. A true scrap quilt as you can see.

Through the years of work I probably have done something wrong or not had the right plan. Just look at the quilt, it all crooked!!

I was really frustareted when I tried to figure out how to finnish and put on border. It did not match up or look like some of the hexagon quilts I have seen. I wanted the egde to be like shown at det lower picture. (sorry but this is a test with loose blocks/ pieces).

I have some serious corrections to do.
The quilt was intended to be a lapquilt is now probably ending up as a queen size bed quilt.
A friend of mine have done som hexagons and having trouble finnishing off. She simply cut her finnished hexagon quilt into pillows sizes and made several pillow covers. Now she have given me her leftover hexagons. She did not care to work with them any more. The hexagons sure come in handy in my struggle to finnish this quilt.

To get my hexagons in a stright line is my gould for this week. It is not that easy having a visiting cat in the house, eager to play. The quilt blocks are layed out on my livingroom floor.
I have had such luck in winning give-aways lately. I have bought a Scandinavian lottery ticket for tonight. Keep your fingers crossed!! I am in such a winning mood :-)

Sewing report

This is as far as I got on my 3 WISP for the challange. I ran out of fabric for borders. I have ordered fabrics and just have to wait paciantly for it to arrive. So, this quilt is back in the WISP box.

In stead I have worked on this pink Jelly Roll quilt. I found it a bit short by using only the Jelly Roll so I added a white border on top and bottom before adding a pink border. On the white border I added some applique. The top is finished. It in a bag ready to go to the Long Arm quilter. I could not go today due to heavy snow.

Today I've been working on two other projects. No photos yet.

What I am working on

I have been looking for a pattert for a lovely pink Moda Jelly Roll I got for my birthday. On day, while resting my badly squeezed finger, I looked through some of my books and found this pattern. I found one this book called Garden Trellis.

My pink version looks like this. I need about 1,6 meter of additional fabric for frame and binding. I might take a trip to my local quiltstore today.

I have signed up for May Britt and Kris' WISP challange. This will be my first WISP to finish this year. I finished the top in May 2008. Yesterday I tacked the layers together (top, batting and backing).

I used my new tool Micro Stitch . Well, new or new, I bought it in August but have not tested it earlier. You know, one of those Got to Have tools! Anyway it worked nicely for keeping the layers together. I'll give my coments on how it works in quilting process.

And my finger ? It's blue, green and yellow and healing slowly.

Take care and watch your fingers!

More UFO's and WISP's

As I have decided to carry on January goalds to finish UFO's and WISP's I have my sewingtime filled up. However, my mind seams to work on its own, and new projects are popping out inbetween LOL. In my quilt group I am called a "Toppers lady". Guess why LOL. I definitly should consentrate on smaller projects. But, i love to try out block patterns and love scrap quilts. My stach is fit for lap and queen size quilts and not miniatures.......

This table runner is a result of one of my block try-outs. The block pile is here.

This is my next project. Doing some rearranging in my sorted scrap boxes this one came to the surface. This is 2 inch half square triangleblocks leftovers from my millenium quilt. Hmm, this box have been hiding for a few years........ I have alredy started working on this project. An idea took form just looking in the box so I made layout planning in EQ6.

To night I am giving a class in Photo Transfere. My class was a tryout in my local quilt shop and turned out really popular. I am so pleased. I allways put a lot of work in making documentation for my classes. My students love it.

Tomorrow I'm off to Lørenskog (near Oslo) to give classes in my RW Sewing tote kit. This have been my most populare class ever.

Ok. I better get started on some house work to earn some sewingtime LOL.

Hi for now. Nancy

Remember thise blocks?? I have made some nice appliques to make a cozy childrens quilt.
This is how my "Quilt-as-you-go" blocks from scraps turned out.

Award and WISP progress

Last 10 days have been really buzy. No time for blogging. Reading nice coments at my blog I discovered this Award from Linnea at Under plarstjärnan (Sweedish blog). Thank you ever so much, Linnea.

Even as tired and warn out I have been, I have squeesed some sewingtime in. I have finished one more project for May Britts challange. Quilting and binding on 4 placemats.

And started work on another UFO. This are some scrap blocks in the maner of quilt-as-you-go. I have quilted my blocks on my Viking Husqvarna embroiderymachine and used a disk with block quilting patterns. Now I have to bind it all together.

I had a trip to the doctor on wednesday. Did not turn out all in my favor.... My fellow workers in the Norwegian Quilt Association sent me this beautifull flower arrangement to cheer me up. You are such good girls!

Okey, time for bed. Nighty nighty from me.

More WISP's

Looking through my secret pile of UFO's sure gave me something to think about. I need more than one month to finish all my UFO's!

I found 7 tops to be quilted! 3 of them are RR from 2006. In addition one scrap quilttop that just need borders and than is ready to be quilted. Also found ready made blocks from international block swaps - enough for 4 - 5 quilttops. One box with hand appliqued blocks ment to be a dobble bedspread. Another box with scrapblocks for a lapquilt. 4 placemats to be quilted and binded, one lapquilt only missing binding. So far 17 - 18 projects that need to be completed, not counting projects presented allready..... For me January don't have enough days to finish it all.

This weekend i put together this top. The fabric pieces are from my advent calender. My mom have made a simular quilttop. Have a look at her blog (unfortunatly she only writes in Norwegian). This is one of the quilts that need to be quilted and binded, hopefully in January.

Same goes for this Eye-Spy quilt. I cleaned out all pieces of bright colored children fabric when moving sewingroom some months ago. The top is done but now I need to quilt and binde.

I have desided not to get worked up by descovering that my WISP-list is pritty long! I'll continue slow and easy with quilting and binding this 4 placemats :-)

Than continue with binding this quilted lap quilt made from my 1 1/2 inch scraps. In addition I'm working on patterns to be published in Norway.

The binding is compledet on my Christmas table cloth. It sure looks nicer with the binding on!

I have so many unfinished projects....... This is one part of a project in our local quiltgroup.

This is the 3 other parts. I have not put the stitcherydrawing on yet. Also have to wait for the batting to arrive. I got hold of the right brand at a quiltstore in Ålesund.

This is one of the projeckt I hope to finish i January.

I'm done!

First WISP is finished. The red and gold tablerunner/ centerpiece is quilted with gold thread and binded. It is 2,4 meter long ( ca. 94 "). This WISP challange is an excelent challange to get my butt moving and get some serious stitching done! Thank you, May-Britt!

This is my lovely Christmas tablecloth. Nobody noticed that it had no binding, Hi hi. Today I have put the binding on and make the handstitching to the back a "in front of TV" project. About 8 meters (315 ") around.

I will start working on next project tomorrow. Remember this quilttop? I have decided to put borders on to make a double bedspred. I have bought the fabric. Can I finish it all in January? Visit me and have a look how it works out.
